Information Literacy (IL)

Learn how to find, evaluate, use and communicate information.

What is Information Literacy?

Information literacy is the set of skills that lets you recognise when information is needed and locate, evaluate and use it effectively. In a world of information overload, these skills are essential for academic success and for lifelong learning.

Our IL programme

  • Orientation sessions on using the Library and its catalogue
  • Training on databases, e-books and effective search strategies
  • Sessions on evaluating sources and avoiding plagiarism
  • Referencing and citation workshops (APA, Harvard and more)
  • Tailored IL classes for specific programmes and assignments

Book a session

Students and staff can request an IL session for their class or group. Contact the Library to arrange a session at a time that suits you.
